Ok I took a short break, 10 days on Costa Del Crime - In truth it was fantastic, sunshine every single day and totally relaxing.

So what happens I get back to Gatwick and wham 3 hours of traffic........................

I was amazed by how much money is in spain !! I remember the old days when it was all so cheap and most spaniards drove around in weird white vans, small and most 3 wheels !!!   Now i think they are fleecing us thanks to the Euro and living well...

Anyway back to football. Because at the end of the day thats what I think I know best !!

I kept an eye on results whilst away, my team Brentford have started well in a tough division.

So have all the big boys in the premiership. Plus fantastic starts for Tottenham and Burnley. Whatever we think of Harry he is a damned good manager.

So Old Actonians, things appear to be progressing well, with friendlies underway and a real chance to check out new blood, training is fine but it takes a proper match to see what a player really has. It is really time now to tidy things up ready for the season start on the 12th September, I am quitely confident that we have a fantastic team of skippers and some good admin people, whilst I know one or two other clubs are struggling.

I can feel inside I need it now, I'm ready for the season start

OK the weekend shot by as always. I have just realised that its the charity shield this sunday, wow footy already. Not sure about you but I am beginning to think the close season is too short. I cannot believe I am saying it, I love football to the core but its overkill............. I am cheering England on in the ashes and at the same time checking what games are on this weekend footy wise. Had a great experience sitting in a jam for an hour and a half cos the North Circ was closed following a shocking crash. It was like Armageddon or one of those crap films, where everyone ditches the car and goes walking down the road. Then all of a sudden the traffic started and everyone had to run back to their cars. Sorry I think that was the height of my weekend. Hope to see you all saturday down the club for the annual 5-a-side promises to be a good day. Trying to get the Mrs to do the burgers.......

So the met office has retracted their prediction of a barbecue summer, wow what a shock. They have finally noticed that the past 6 weeks have been wetter than a Butowski team talk...... Training has been good, great to see the mass of old heads interspersed with a sprinkling of young talent.Still was even better showing them I still had the touch, its just everything else thats letting me down. Even more worrying was Mel telling me to drop a few pounds before I played in the 8's !!!! I don't even know how to counter that one......... The season is now rolling even closer and the buzz is returning. We just need to keep the focus on finding new talent who have the club spirit. So what else is happening. Cricket looks good so far but hey i'm English and I always know at the back of my head what will really happen. Esther Rantzen running for M.P in luton, not sure who I feel sorry for there. Sir Bobby has just popped off, for all those too young to know,he was a legend, a real gentleman and achieved success in the right spirit. The transfer merry-go-round is hotting up a little, well if you support Man City I guess. And things are slowly moving in regards to the re-generation of Gunnersbury, check the web. Catch you all soon coffee and low-calorie coffee cake is calling !!!

Ok its happening, pressure has been bought on me to return to my blog writing. (me thinks there are sad people out there with a cushy job, or is that a description of me ?) Lets re-cap, I ended my blog moaning and groaning despite a wonderful season for the club, 2 leagues and 4 cups. Also for me was the immensly humbling accolade of winning a Football Workforce award for services to Amateur Football. Thank you to all and that coffee mug will be of great use !! Ok so lessons learnt from season 2008-9 1. Don't get so bloody emotional 2. Get fit you fat bastard or you will be in goal again. 3. Enjoy saturdays..........!! 4. Get tougher with money 5. Keep away from Farjad he keeps wanting to kiss me !!! 6. Never ever go drinking again with the boys from Crouch End Vamps... -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok so training started yesterday, strange day, sun-rain-sun-rain-sun-torrential rain. But 57 turned out for training, a splattering of newbies and many old heads. Where were the coaches (in fact I still don't know), step-in as always Mssrs Callaghan and Owen. A good session, which also saw my lifelong search for a keeping coach bear fruition, and boy did he work those keepers. So were off and running with another season off the starting blocks, lets hope we go from strength to strength this year and maybe the trophy cabinet gleam brighter than Bob Stevenson's teeth !!! WELCOME BACK ..................................

sorry chaps, been busy this week and overlooked my blog.

so whats happened, jade Goody died, G20 summit, got caught in the Tamil Tigers demo at Westminster when I went to the SAL meeting tuesday !!

on the footy front, a fairly quietish week, though I have had panic stations getting everything organised for the club dinner, tickets are now out, trophies ordered and ties arriving soon. Reminder to self still have to produce menu's.

Still, believe it or not, wading through discipline paperwork................... can't you lot just play footy !!

the arrangement of fixtures is a headache, clubs still groaning about midweekers despite the fact they have been on the web for weeks, I guess they just want the best for their clubs !!

enjoy your easter, 2 massive games for the club, good luck 2's and 6's
